Batting great Sachin Tendulkar hit back at the veteran pacer Shoaib Akhtar after India thrashed arch-rivals by 7 wickets in the ICC ODI World Cup match on Saturday. It was a one-sided affair where Pakistan failed to match the intensity at a jam-packed Narendra Modi Stadium as the hosts got massive support from the home fans.
On the eve of mega clash, Shoaib Akhtar posted a photo from the past where he can be seen celebrating Sachin Tendulkar’s wicket.

Akhtar captioned it, “Kal agar asa kuch kerna hai, toh #ThandRakh.”

Tendulkar waited for India to thrash Pakistan and post-match he replied to Akhtar, “My friend, aap ka advice follow kiya aur sab kuch billlkoool THANDA rakha….”

Tendulkar was also present at the stadium as ICC’s global ambassador for the World Cup. He also did a brief stint in the commentary box.
Tendulkar’s former teammate Virender Sehwag also trolled Akhtar earlier in the day.
Akhtar took to the social networking site X, formerly known as Twitter and wrote, Wah re yeh khamosh chokkay!!
Sehwag took a dig at Akhtar and replied, “Shayad khamoshi ke chauke dekhkar Pakistani batsman ne jaldi jaldi pavillion lautne ki thaan li. Jhel nahi paaye yaar pressure Haha..Koi nahi Shoaib Bhai. Na Ishq Na Pyaar mein.. Jo Maza 8-0 ki haar mein!”

From cruising at 155-2, Pakistan lost eight wickets for just 36 runs in 13 overs in a shocking batting implosion, also their worst collapse for the last eight wickets in their history of playing in the Men’s ODI World Cup. Such was Pakistan’s innings that no batter hit a six and Nasser Hussain on air said it was “a collapse only Pakistan team can manufacture”.
In chasing 192, India skipper Rohit Sharma smashed six fours and as many sixes en route to top-score with a scintillating 86 off 63 balls. Shreyas Iyer did well to make 53 not out off 62 balls, giving India its eighth straight victory over Pakistan in Men’s ODI World Cups. The comprehensive win has also meant India has climbed to top of the points table.
Brief Scores: Pakistan 191 in 42.5 overs (Babar Azam 50, Mohammad Rizwan 49; Jasprit Bumrah 2-19, Hardik Pandya 2-34) lost to India 192-3 in 30.3 overs (Rohit Sharma 86, Shreyas Iyer 53 not out; Shaheen Shah Afridi 2-36, Hasan Ali 1-34) by seven wickets
