GANESH CHATURTHI 2023: One of the most auspicious Hindu festivals — Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner. This year the celebrations will be observed on September 19. Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birth anniversary of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati’s son, Lord Ganesh. Devotees worship Lord Ganesh to seek his blessings and usher wealth, prosperity, and success into their lives. On this joyous occasion, people bring the Ganesh idols home and prepare delicious sweets to offer the deity.

It is a well-known fact that more than anything Ganesh loves modaks and ladoos. With Ganesh Chaturthi preparations already underway, here are five types of mouth-watering ladoos that you can offer Modakpriya aka Lord Ganesh.

Besan Ke Ladoo

Besan ke ladoos are a premium and traditional Indian sweet that is often enjoyed by many in Indian households. Besan is first roasted with ghee, sugar, and cardamom before giving the ladoos the familiar round shape. Some besan ke ladoos also come with small cashew toppings.

Churma Ladoos

Churma, a traditional dessert, majorly found in Gujarat and Rajasthan, is combined to create appetizing ladoos. A mixture of wheat, jaggery, grated coconut, ghee, and sesame seeds is used to make churma ladoos. It takes around 30 minutes to prepare this ready-to-make mithai. They are also widely available in markets.

Motichoor Ladoo

Another special type of Indian sweet is motichoor ladoos. They are prepared with aromatic, and small boondis that have been soaked with saffron. Boondis are tiny fried gram flour balls that are spherical in shape, hence their name. Motichoor ladoos stand out due to their vivid mustard-yellow colour and scrumptious flavour. And guess what? After modaks, motichoor ladoos are Lord Ganesh’s favourite dessert.

Ragi Coconut Ladoo

Ragi Coconut Ladoo is another much-loved dish that is incredibly famous in India. It contains a high protein and mineral content that makes these ragi coconut ladoos a highly nutritious dish. The prime ingredients used to make these melt-in-the-mouth laddoos include coconut, jaggery, and crispy peanuts. Sometimes condensed milk is also used to prepare rago coconut ladoos.

Malai Ladoo

A little malai in sweets can never go wrong. The same applies to malai laddoos, which are both a unique and delectable Indian dessert, perfect to serve Lord Ganesha on Ganesh Chaturthi. You can easily cook this creamy and lip-smacking malai ladoo at home with just three ingredients — milk, sugar and paneer. The ingredients only need to be cooked slowly until the creamy dough is ready.
