It has been expected that the new line will contribute to reducing the overall traffic in the city, making it less congestion on the roads.

To provide an improved travel expirence and better connectivity to the commuters, Namma Metro is gearing up to expand lines, developing the detailed project report (DPR), where a new line will link the Sarjapur to Hebbal.

It has been recorded that the 37-km long line project is worth somewhere around Rs 16,543 crore, which was added to the Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2020. It was introduced to strengthen the connectivity and to ease the transportation in the city.

Namma Metro Extended Connectivity

As per the report shared by the ET, the planned route begins with a lifted corridor, next to Sarjapur’s IT corridor, and alignment goes underground at Koramangala. It will through a tunnel to cross the central business district and eventually ends with an elevated stop at Ballari Road in Ganganagar and Hebbal.

The report shared by the TOI also suggested that the project will provide an interconnection with the currently available Pink, Blue, Purple, and Phase III lines.

Line Connectivity

Starting with Iblur, the improved line project will allow commuters to connect with the Blue Line, providing them with better connectivity from Central Silk Board station to Kempegowda International Airport. While Dairy Circle provides a seamless movement towards Bannerghatta Road or MG Road, using Pink Line.

Apart from this, the planned station will link up with the Sir M Visvesvaraya Purple Line station, which is in the service right now, near the KR Circle.

Overall Benefit?

It has been expected that the new line will contribute to reducing the overall traffic in the city, making it less congestion on the roads, and will come out as a big relief in the city’s core areas.

In addition, the residents will get benefit from the integration of both currently operating Metro lines and those under Phase II A and B.
