Toyota is set to release a new variant of their Innova Hycross model soon.
This car’s hybrid powertrain variant has been getting many features, derived from its higher-end counterparts with the petrol version just receiving some lower-end trims so far.
However, it’s all about to change as the Japanese automobile manufacturer has now listed a new GX (O) variant of the Innova Hycross on their official website.
The launch is expected to take place in a few days, reportedly in early April as reported by Hindustan Times. The new trim is going to be available in both seven and eight-seater configurations.
Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O): Features
The new GX (O) variant of the Toyota Hycross will be packed with newer features compared to its existing models. It includes LED front fog lamps, automatic climate control, a 10.1-inch touchscreen (limited only to seven-seater variants) and a rear retractable sunshade (limited only to seven-seater variants). The GX (O) eight-seater variant will be packed with a smaller 8-inch touchscreen unit.
Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O): Powertrain
The yet-to-be-released Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O) is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine. These specifications should produce 173 bhp and 209 Nm of torque. The engine will also pack the standard CVT automatic transmission which will send power only to the front wheels. The Hycross also gets a hybrid variant that is powered by a 2.0-litre engine that produces 182 bhp. Here the motor features eCVT automatic transmission which doubles down as a starter generator. This hybrid engine option promises lower emissions and fuel consumption.
Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O): Pricing
Toyota is yet to reveal the official pricing of the upcoming Innova Hycross GX (O). It will likely be priced at a premium when compared to the already GX trim. The base GX trim variant starts at roughly Rs 19 lakh in India. The G variant, on the other hand, is only available for commercial use. The hybrid variant of the Hycross starts at Rs 25 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 30 lakh for the ZX (O) version. Given the pricing of their current models, the GX (O) variant of the car should not priced more than Rs 21 lakh. (all prices, ex-showroom).
Toyota Innova Hycross GX (O): Competition
While the Innova Hycross does not face any direct competition from other automobile manufacturers in the premium MPV segment, it does take on the likes of XUV700, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus.
