Challenging Star Darshan has earned the title “Bhoomi Putra” for his recent blockbuster film Kaatera, highlighting the plight of farmers. His presence in Sandalwood is undeniable, exemplifying a personality that demands attention, whether you love him or not.

Darshan is hailed by devoted fans for his outstanding contributions as an actor and dedication to social causes, notably his compassionate stance towards animals. Recognised as the “Challenging Star” and “Box Office Sultan,” he has consistently broken records, earning these titles. His recent film, Kaatera (2023), addressing farmers’ challenges under the “Tiller is the owner of the land” act, resonated well with the audience, particularly farmers, propelling it into the ₹100-crore club.

The Kaatera team is jubilant as their film completes a successful 25-day run. In a special ceremony on January 26, the farmers association bestowed the title “Bhoomi Putra” upon the star actor, a gesture that Darshan humbly acknowledged, expressing gratitude for their support and love for his film. Reflecting on the Kannada film industry’s foundation, he emphasized the pivotal roles played by iconic figures like Dr. Rajkumar, Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Dr. Ambareesh, and Shankar Nagar, considering himself and others as mere contributors in comparison.

The title bestowed upon Darshan by farmers coincided with the 75th birth anniversary of the late farmer leader and MLA, KS Puttannaiah. Darshan Puttannaiah, the son of the revered leader and a farmer leader and MLA himself representing the Melukote State Assembly Constituency in Karnataka, graced the occasion with his presence.

Set against an agrarian backdrop and inspired by a pivotal event from the 1970s, the film not only met expectations upon its release but also garnered remarkable commercial success. The pre-release launch of two songs, Pasandaagavne and Yaava Janumada Gelathi, captivated internet users and social media influencers, leading to the creation of over 1 lakh reels for each song. With music composed by V. Harikrishna, Kaatera has set a record for the widespread popularity of its songs in the form of online reels.
