Celebrating their rich language and culture, a couple from Karnataka transformed their wedding into a celebration of the Kannada culture and language. The unique and eventful wedding celebration also celebrated their native mother tongue.

Usually, couples opt for the best, as well as unique themes for their weddings, to make the special day a memorable event for themselves, and their families. However, this couple from Karnataka, went for a Kannada culture-cum-language themed celebration for their wedding, where everything symbolised the language and culture of Kannada people.

The bride and groom, Deepak and Rajeshwari, come from Belagavi, in Karnataka. Their wedding day was a celebration of the Kannada language. The event took place at the H K Patil Kalyana Mantapa, in Belagavi. For the occasion, the couple wore customized gold rings which were etched with the words “Kannadiga and Kannadati”. The wedding was attended by Chandrashekar Shivacharya Swamiji from the temple of Hukkeri Hiremath who also recited the mantras in Kannada.

The bride, Rajeshwari, was seen wearing a stunning silk kanjeevaram saree, which resembled the Karnataka state flag, as it shone beautifully with hues of red and yellow. It was paired with a massive red and white hair ornament called gajra.

Every year, the people of Karnataka celebrate the Karnataka Rajyotsava on November 1, celebrating the formation of the state in 1956. The Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka hoists the state flag every year on the occasion which is marked by celebrations like the Rajyotsava Awards, concerts, festivals etc. The state flag is made from two colours, vermillion and yellow, as these colours symbolise Arashina (turmeric) and Kumkuma.
