Mamata Banerjee will announce the railway budget on Friday. In an interview with CNBC-TV18’s Udayan Mukherjee and Mitali Mukherjee, LV Raju, MD, Kernex Microsystems, says he expects more spending on safety from the Railway Minister. "Last year, we didn’t get any benefit from the budget. This year, we are expecting good news from the railway budget," he adds.
He further says, this year's budget will impact the company positively.
Below is a verbatim transcript of his exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18's Udayan Mukherjee and Mitali Mukherjee.
CNBC-TV18: What are your expectations because this time the general level of expectation is quite low for the railway companies? Are you expecting anything in the next hour or so?
LV Raju: We are expecting good news from the railway minister. They will have to spend more on safety and safety related measures. So, we are expecting good positive news.
CNBC-TV18: Can you walk us through what came out in the previous budget in terms of fresh orders for you? How much of that has been executed or being allocated to you?
LV Raju: From the last budget, we didn’t get any benefit. We expect some benefit in this budget; benefit means new projects coming in related with safety. So that will benefit the company. That’s all I can say at present because we cannot speculate.
