With the Board of Control for Cricket in India announcing the T20 World Cup squad that will represent the nation in the marquee tournament that takes place in the West Indies and United States of America, fans can rejoice as two members of the squad, namely the legspinner, Yuzuvendra Chahal and the wicketkeeper-batter, Sanju Samson, both of whom play for the Rajasthan Royals have made their return to the national squad.
Chahal (33) used to be a key member of India’s white-ball games but has been out of favour for quite some time. He last featured in T20Is, during the tour of the West Indies in August 2023. However, following his consistent performances in the IPL, bowling the tough overs and coming out successfully by being among the leading wicket-takers consistently for the Royals has earned him his maiden T20 World Cup call-up.

Meanwhile, Samson has not had it easy. Despite having featured in the national side, he has not been a relied-upon player. A big example of this is his inclusion along with the second-string side when they travelled to Ireland or when he was busy playing ODI’s when the T20 World Cup was around the corner. But now with his performances, Samson has showcased a newfound resolve which has earned him his maiden call-up for the T20 World Cup.
Chahal has finally been picked for his first T20 World Cup. The highest wicket-taker in IPL history gets his maiden T20 World Cup where he will look to continue taking wickets in national colours.

The leg-spinner missing out in 2021 was a huge shocker. He, however, will look to put all that behind him and help the national side with what he does best. That is to take wickets.
How the same Chahal missed out in 2021 T20 WC and here he back again into the squad for similar conditions ♂️#Chahal https://t.co/HZo4kn3JKs— Saideep (@saideep1501) April 30, 2024
This Indian cricket fan has recognised that Samson has put in the hard yards by performing consistently and in this season of the IPL, he has been outstanding for the Royals leading the run-scoring charts with the bat for RR.

The batter from Kerala has come a long way from making his T20I debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe as he finds himself in the World Cup squad and potentially plays a crucial role in the run for the prized trophy.
So happy to see Sanju Samson included in Team India’s squad for T20 World Cup 2024. He has earned his spot by performing so well in IPL and domestic cricket. Even in this IPL, he is the leading runs scorer for RR as well.– All the best, Sanju..!!!! pic.twitter.com/WBbNHCG49F
