'I am One of the Best Spinners in the Country': R Sai Kishore Makes Bold Call to Indian Selectors Ahead of Bangladesh Tests
Believing that he is one of the best spinners in India, R Sai Kishore believes that he is ready to take the next big step and play Test matches for India.

As the Indian Cricket Team gear up for a riveting couple of months at home, the Indian all-rounder, R Sai Kishore has gone on to claim that he is ready for the international stage, as he makes his return after a brief injury spell.

The 27-year-old has already represented the country in the 2023 Asian Games where the Indian team went on to get the gold medal. Since then, he has been one of the standout bowlers in the domestic scene where he led the Tamil Nadu side to the Ranji Trophy semi-final.

Despite losing out to the eventual winners, Mumbai, the southpaw has found himself at second in the wicket-taking charts for the season with a tally of 53 games in the nine games he featured.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, Kishore believes that he is ready to take the next step and represent the country in their red-ball games. He also suggested that he would like to play with his senior counterpart the CSK and Indian cricket stalwart, Ravindra Jadeja, believing that time spent on the field with him would be an ideal learning experience.

“I feel I am one of the best spinners in the country. Put me in a Test match, I am ready. So, I am not worried too much. Jadeja is there, I have never played alongside him. I have been with him in CSK, but never played together in red-ball format. So, it will be a good learning experience in terms of what he does. In saying that, I feel confident. So, I am ready more than ever,” he said

India’s next big assignment would be in their upcoming two-match home Test series against Bangladesh which is set to begin on September 19. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet to announce the squad but it might be the case that R Sai Kishore might not get a look into the side considering that the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja remain the primary choices for spin along with the left-arm wrist spinner.

Kuldeep Yadav is the next option who had a fine display with the ball in the 2024 Test series against England, picking up 19 wickets in the four games he played.

However, if the selectors opt to rest Jadeja considering that he has been getting injured frequently, Sai Kishore could be a genuine contender to come into the squad and possibly even play as an all-rounder. The experience of playing with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and R Ashwin could serve him in good stead for the long run.
