Team India wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant shared a glimpse of himself sweating it out at the gym ahead of his much-anticipated return to cricketing action following his prolonged time on the sidelines due to injuries he sustained back in December of the year 2022 in an unfortunate car accident.
Pant was severely injured in a collision as he crashed into a divider while driving to Rourkee. He has been recovering from the horrendous incident and has shown tremendous determination and grit to get back to fitness.
The maverick batsman got back to the fold of the IPL side Delhi Capital, which he captains, back in November of last year despite not being able to play as he was present at the Delhi CApital’s camp in Kolkata alongside the side’s director of cricket and coach Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting.
He was also involved in the retentions and release of players ahead of the auction in December and was also spotted with the DC unit during the auction which took place in Dubai, UAE.
Ahead of the auction, DC shared a video of Pant sharing his thoughts on his comeback and the gratitude he holds for all the prayers and wishes that went out to him.
“I think I am much better compared to how I was doing a few months ago. Still in recovery to 100 per cent, but hopefully, in a few months, I will be able to do that,” Pant stated in the video.
“It has been amazing because whenever we are playing, we feel no one loves us. After all, there is always pressure and so many things. Yes, it is a hard time but I came to know people love us, respect us and the kind of appreciation and concern people have shown over a while because of my injury,” he said.
“It was heartfelt – crazy for me – because it means a lot as an individual when you are going through a very rough time,” Pant added.
“It is not only physical recovery, it is mental also and if your supporters and the people support you and love you, it means a lot, and it helps in recovery,” the wicketkeeper-batsman elucidated.
“The kind of accident I had, I am lucky to be alive,” the 26-year-old said.
