It’s heaven for KKR, and hell for SRH, as the Men in Orange have gotten off to what can only be termed a nightmarish start in Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2024 Playoffs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Hyderabad.
SRH won the toss and skipper Pat Cummins elected to bat first, hoping to play to their strength of raining runs down on the opposition with the bat initially. But, it seems like it’s all gone down the drain currently.

It’s two wickets in two overs for the Kolkata Knight Riders, as the likes of Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora wreaked havoc early into their clash against the Sunrisers Hyderabad to dismiss both dangermen openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma.
Starc started the proceedings off with an absolute peach, as he bowled one swinging in towards Head, who was completely beat by the delivery as the ball crashed onto the top of off-stump, to castle the Aussie’s stumps and send him back to the pavilion.

Arora went for a delivery just a bit wide outside off, tempting Abhishek Sharma to drive at it.
Abhishek forced the drive and ended up slicing the ball straight towards Andre Russell at covers, who leapt up in the air to snatch the whizzing ball out of thin air and dismiss the second opener as well.
Having lost their firepower opening combination of Head and Abhishek, who have put up more than 660 runs as an opening pair at a ridiculous strike rate of over 220, the onus now falls on the rest of the SRH batting order to show up and show out when it matters the most.
