Team India worked their way into the lead against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the opening Test of the series on Saturday as the hosts clawed their way back into the game from a rather troubled position after a dismal first innings showing.
Rishabh Pant produced a moment of brilliance at the Chinnaswamy as he whacked Kiwi seamer Tim Southee for a 107m six as he went down on one leg and sent the ball to the roof of the stadium.

India, who were bundled out for 46 runs in the first innings before the Kiwis replied with 402 runs, managed to edge into the lead in the second innings of the game thanks to a ton from Sarfaraz Khan and fifties from Pant, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Pant looked in fine touch and was unlucky to miss out on a century as he fell for 99 runs to Kiwi pacer Will ‘Rourke.
India opened the second innings with intent as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit added 72 runs for the opening wicket before the former fell to Ajaz Patel for 35 runs,
Rohit was next to go as Patel dismissed him for 52 runs. Kohli and Sarfaraz shared the crease for a 136-run stand for the third wicket before the former skipper was sent back to the hut for 70 by Glenn Phillips.
Sarfaraz and Pant added 177 runs before the youngster was dismissed after scaling the 150-run landmark as he fell prey to Southee.
Pant fell shortly after, just a run shy of the triple-digit mark before Rahul was dismissed for 12 runs off 156 deliveries.
However, the top order’s contributions meant that India had sailed past the run deficit in Bengaluru against the touring Kiwis, who looked to be in complete control of the day following a sensational second day after the opening day of the game was washed out due to inclement weather conditions.
