It was inevitable, wasn’t it? Yet another masterclass for the ages from none other than ‘Boom Boom’ Bumrah once again as he brought down hell upon the RCB batters in Mumbai Indians’ dominant 7-wicket win today.
Jasprit Bumrah breathed fire, as he scalped a fabulous fifer, with figures of 5/21, as he was the sheer point of difference in an otherwise lackluster bowling attack that allowed RCB to notch up 196 runs in 20 overs.
His fifer today took his tally of wickets in the current IPL season to 10, making him the Purple Cap holder as well currently. It also ensured that he became only the third Indian fast bowler to pick two fifers in the IPL.

For all the followers and observers alike, it would be fair to say that a masterclass of this magnitude was one that was incoming, given Bumrah’s fine form with the ball lately for the Mumbai Indians. But, the man himself remained humble about the same.
‘I’m very happy with the outcome. But I will not say I had always thought of taking a five-for. Wicket was sticking in the first 10 overs. One of those days where things went in my favour and catches went to hand,’ stated a humble and elated Bumrah in a post-match interview.
Bumrah opened his account with the prized wicket of Virat Kohli, removing the RCB opener for 3 in the Powerplay. As he returned with his second spell, the right arm quick got the better of skipper Faf du Plessis before running through the lower-middle order.

Bumrah created a couple of hat-trick chances for himself but missing out on them didn’t bother him as he had done his job already. He trapped Mahipal Lomror with a toe-crushing Yorker and then dismissed Saurav Chauhan and Vijaykumar Vyshak on consecutive deliveries in the 19th over to end his dream spell.
Bumrah’s arsenal is one that is feared all across in world cricket. From the most menacing of yorkers to the most deceiving of slower deliveries, Bumrah possesses mastery over all the various skillsets, and he stated that the same, along with arduous research and preparation is what helped him to conquer RCB in their bout.
“In this format, it’s anyway very harsh on the bowlers so you need to have different skills. Can’t be a one-trick pony. Everyone is doing research and data. So, I have trained to have different skills,” exclaimed Bumrah.
“Whenever I’ve had bad days, I’ve watched videos the next day to see what didn’t work, why it didn’t work…I do my research and see where the batter is strong. You don’t need to use all tricks on one day. There’s no ego in this format,” added an honest Bumrah.
