‘Our 12th Man Forever’: Kolkata Knight Riders Respond To Shah Rukh Khan’s Heartfelt Note After Being Crowned IPL 2024 Champions
Kolkata Knight Riders had a heartfelt yet simple response to Shah Rukh Khan's note after IPL 2024.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have thanked their “12th man” – Shah Rukh Khan – for playing a massive role in helping the team win a third Indian Premier League crown. SRK, the franchise’s co-owner, recently penned down a heartwarming note on social media after his team’s triumphant 2024. In a long post, the actor praised almost everyone in the KKR set-up and wrote, “…Boys you are all made of Star stuff!! Love you all and don’t let the dancing stop! …Tough times don’t last….Finally, Tough and Happy teams do! Korbo…Lorbo…Jeetbo….Always.”

KKR’s official Instagram handle has now shared a response saying that they would do it over and over again for Shah Rukh Khan. “To our 12th man forever, we’d do this a thousand times and over!” read the post shared along with a picture of the team lifting the trophy.

Fans commented on the post thanking Shah Rukh Khan for performing the role of an ideal owner. One of them wrote, “Best owner anyone could ask for”.

Another added, “SRK is one of the best owners of IPL franchises, he always motivates knights through his words & speech…Certainly, he’s the 12th knight…! More power to SRK…”

“Best owner of a Team in IPL…Massive achiever not only by money but also by respect, and is immensely talented…What an owner to have!!!” read the comment.

Almost every fan agreed that KKR and SRK are almost synonymous. “We are always with KKR, and SRK we are with you. KKR fan power.”

Shah Rukh Khan might be one of the biggest stars in the world but he called himself a “12th man” for KKR. In an interview with Star Sports, Shah Rukh talked about how he served the franchise as a team player in the first few years. “The first five years were very challenging. I am not a cricketer…But I was the 12th man in KKR. As the 12th man, how to go field, serve the water, give the towel, and be able to explain that it is ok, give it time,” he said.

The Kolkata Knight Riders won their first-ever IPL championship in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League in 2012. Two years later, they won a second trophy in 2014. Since then, Kolkata failed to win the IPL crown until this season. They had previously booked a final in 2021 where they lost to a MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings. Three years after the heartbreaking loss in the final in Dubai, Kolkata were crowned IPL champions once again in 2024, defeating Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad.
