Rohit Sharma Starts Preparation For Bangladesh Series, Video Of Training With Abhishek Nayar Goes Viral
Rohit will lead India in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which is set to start on September 19 in Chennai.

Indian players are on a month-long break these days and will return to action next month during the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which starts on September 19 in Chennai. The first Test between India and Bangladesh is scheduled to take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium, and Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will host the second red-ball match from September 27 onwards.

After playing two red-matches against the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side, India will face New Zealand in a three-match Test series at home and then travel to Australia in November for a five-match Test series against Pat Cummins & Co.

Ahead of the upcoming busy Test season, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has begun his preparations. The 37-year-old right-handed batter, who led India to the T20 World Cup 2024 title in June, was seen training with India’s assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar. In a video going viral on the internet, Rohit can be seen doing some intense cardio drills in a park under the supervision of Nayar, who joined the Indian support staff last month after Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as India’s head coach.

Rohit last played a red-ball match for India in March 2024 against England. In that match, he scored a century in the first inning. Rohit will be a key player for India in the upcoming red-ball matches, and his form will play a big role in helping India not just win in the series but also qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the third season in a row.

Rohit in red-hot form

After a mixed IPL 2024 season for the Mumbai Indians, Rohit top-scored for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 and helped Men in Blue end the 11-year-long wait for an ICC title. After the shortest format megaevent, Rohit took the field for Team India in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Colombo earlier this month and top-scored in all three matches.

However, despite his rich form with the bat, India failed to win any of the three matches and, for the first time in 27 years, suffered a defeat in a bilateral ODI series against Sri Lanka.
