The Common University Entrance Test or CUET is one of the biggest exams in India. Last year, 28 lakh students applied for the examination. This year, the number of candidates is expected to increase. The registration process for the CUET UG 2024 exam will commence soon at the official websites — cuet.samarth.ac.in, and cuet.nta.nic.in.

It is necessary to clear the CUET UG for admission to bachelor courses at several central universities, state universities, private universities, and deemed to be universities. Some of the top-tier universities that accept CUET UG scores include Delhi University, Lucknow University, Banaras Hindu University, Allahabad University, etc.

CUET UG is conducted for 12th-pass candidates. This year, the exam will be held between May 15 to 31. Due to the large number of applicants in the examination, this examination is conducted for several days. This year many changes are being made in the exam.

CUET UG 2024: Changes Introduced to Exam This Year

— The exam will be held in hybrid mode. With this, candidates from rural areas will get the facility to take the exam close to home. CUET UG exam will be conducted daily in three shifts — 9 am to 11 am, 12.30 pm to 2 pm, and 4 pm to 5.30 pm.

— This year, the subjects in which more students will be registered will be conducted on OMR sheets instead of Computer Based Test (CBT) format. Furthermore, UGC will use many schools, colleges, and educational institutions as exam centres. This will benefit candidates from rural and remote areas.

— Last year, CUET candidates were given the opportunity to choose 10 subjects. But this year candidates will be able to choose only six subjects. According to NTA, most of the candidates were not choosing the full 10 options. By reducing the topics of test papers, allotment of examination centres will become easier. These six test papers will include three domain subjects, two languages, ​​and one general subject.
