Hailing from Belkhed, a village in the Akola district of Maharashtra, Nilkrishna Gajare has secured All India Rank 1 in the recently announced Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2024. The son of a farmer, Nilkrishna started preparing for JEE after completing class 10. He claims that he studied for 10-15 hours daily while preparing for JEE and shifted to the coaching hub of the country, Kota, for the same.
“I started preparing after the 10th for JEE Main. I practised 10-15 hours daily while preparing for JEE,” said Nilkrishna, who had also taken the January session exam of JEE Main 2024 wherein he secured 100 percentile as well. “I took the second session exam for more motivation,” he said. Furthermore, he also took help from the Unacademy’s SRG (Special Rankers Group) programme.
After class 4, AIR 1 Nilkrishna moved to Kanjalatanda to complete his middle and high school following which he shifted to Kota to fulfill his dream of studying in an IIT. “I did my early education and schooling till Class 4 there before moving to Kanjalatanda for my middle and high school. Aiming for JEE Main and Indian Institutes of Technology, I then shifted to Kota for my Class 11 and 12,” he told News18.com.
To his fellow JEE aspirants, he says “You should always ask questions until you understand the subject very well.” Nilkrishna now aims to secure a seat in IIT Bombay for their most sought-after course, Computer Science. He is also the topper from the OBC-NCL category.
As many as 56 candidates have secured 100 percentile this year out of which 15 are from Telangana followed by seven candidates each from Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, six candidates from Delhi, and five from Rajasthan. Karnataka’s Sanvi Jain and Delhi’s Shayna Sinha are the only two female candidates who have scored 100 percentile in this year’s engineering entrance exam. A total of 1067959 appeared for the second session of the exam.
