The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced plans to schedule a re-test for 1563 NEET UG 2024 candidates who were granted grace marks due to loss of time. This comes amid the controversy surrounding the entrance exam recently and the Supreme Court’s decision to cancel the compensation exam allotted earlier to these candidates. The re-exam will be held on June 23. This intends to reverse the results declared on June 4. The admit cards for the re-test will be released soon, and the new results will be published on the official website.
The official notification stated that a High Powered Committee was constituted to examine the issue of the grant of compensatory/grace marks to 1563 candidates, as grievances had been raised regarding this action. The Committee, after in-depth consideration of all relevant aspects, submitted its recommendations/report which have been accepted by the NTA. “As per the recommendations of the High Powered Committee, NTA decided to reconduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) [NEET (UG)] – 2024 on 23 June 2024 for 1563 candidates who had experienced time loss during the originally scheduled examination on 05 May 2024 and were awarded compensatory marks,” mentioned that notice.

Furthermore, this re-test is for only those applicants who received compensatory marks in their original results. The exam will be conducted between 2:00 to 5:20 P.M on June 23 and the results are expected to be released on June 30.
The original scorecards of these 1563 candidates will be cancelled and withdrawn. The candidates will receive their actual scores without the grace marks via their registered email addresses. Candidates who do not choose to retake the exam will get the results without the grace marks, and for those who take the re-test, only the reevaluated marks will be taken into consideration.

The NEET-UG 2024 was held on May 5 for around 24 lakh students, and the results were revealed on June 4, much earlier than the expected release date of June 14. The controversy started when the NEET results revealed that 67 people, six of whom came from the same or nearby exam centres, received a perfect score of 720 marks. After students filed petitions in high courts, the NTA constituted a Grievance Redressal Committee made up of examination and academic specialists who investigated the complaints using factual reports and CCTV footage. They confirmed the loss of exam time and awarded 1,563 students with grace marks.
