Schools in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Delhi will remain closed on Monday (September 16) on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi. Schools and colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Delhi will resume tomorrow, September 17. However, schools in Telangana will remain closed in some areas on Tuesday as well due to Ganesha’s Sobhayatra. It means that schools in some parts of Telangana have two consecutive days off. The state school management authority has informed the schools regarding this.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has rescheduled the Eid-e-Milad holiday from Monday, September 16 to Wednesday, September 18. The announcement was made following requests from the local leaders of the Muslim community who plan to hold Eid-e-Milad processions on September 18 in order to avoid conflict with Ganpati immersion ceremonies, Anant Chaturdashi.
Although schools will remain closed in the neighboring state of Haryana, the Eid-e-Milad holiday has not been declared in Punjab yet.
Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, also known as Eid-e-Milad, is an Islamic observance that commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. This day is a special time for Muslims around the world to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and to celebrate his life and legacy. Also known as Maulid, the day is marked by the somber remembrance of his passing, as he died on the same date. It is observed in the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, Rabi-ul-Awwal.
On the other hand, all schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar will remain closed tomorrow, September 17 due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on Tuesday. Not just educational institutions, all the government offices, including revenue and magisterial courts in the state capital, will also be closed for the first half of the day on September 17. During his visit, the prime minister will be launching ‘Subhadra’ yojana, a women-centric scheme of the state government.
