Rio de Janeiro: Highly rated Brazilian mid-fielder Lucas Silva revealed his agent has received a call from Real Madrid about a move to the Spanish club.
In an interview with Sportv Wednesday, Silva said that his representative, Luiz Rocha, had told the 21-year-old to focus on playing for Brazilian club Cruzeiro while he negotiated a possible transfer, reports Xinhua.
"Nothing has been confirmed, there is only speculation. There was a call to my agent, who let me know what was happening. But it was at the final stage of the season so he told me to stay focused and calm, that he was going to deal with matters off the pitch," Silva was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
"Now that the season is practically over, I don't know what will happen. It's still open. Whatever is best for me and for Cruzeiro."
Real have reportedly offered 12 million euros for the Brazil Under-21 international, who is contracted to Cruzeiro until 2017.
But Carlo Ancelotti's team faces competition for the star's signature from a number of European clubs, including Arsenal, Internazionale and Chelsea.
A central mid-fielder who is also capable of playing in a more attacking No.10 role, Silva is a key member of the Cruzeiro team that has won the past two Brazilian Serie A titles.
A January transfer could provide Silva with an immediate chance in Carlo Ancelotti's first team due to a thigh injury to Luka Modric and lingering fitness doubts over Sami Khedira.
He said he was unsure if he would make the move in January or the next European summer.
"I don't know how it will happen and if it will happen, but there is an expectation," Silva said.
"I'm a little anxious, I must confess and with good expectations given the good year that I had. Now I want to enjoy some time off with my family and if it (the transfer) happens, it will be a dream."
