Manchester: Big-spending Manchester City are preparing to sign Robin van Persie as a replacement for Carloz Tevez, according to The Guardian.
The Argentine has been suspended for two weeks following his refusal to come off the bench in the 2-0 defeat against Bayern Munich, and the club are now apparently lining up a move for the Arsenal captain.
City manager Roberto Mancini was clearly disgusted with Tevez's actions and told reporters after the Champions League game on Tuesday that he was finished at the club.
The 27-year-old striker made it clear over the summer that his intentions were to leave the Ethiad Stadium due to family reasons, but no club could meet City's asking price, reported to be in the region of 40 million Pounds.
Mancini apparently believes City would only likely receive half that amount in the January transfer window due to the forward's recent behaviour and his high wage demands deterring potential suitors.
However, according to The Telegraph, City's Abu Dhabi hierarchy are reluctant to see him sold for less than 50m Pounds, especially as Van Persie could cost up to 20m Pounds.
The Arsenal free-scoring striker's contract expires in 2013 and he has put talks over a new deal on hold.
