Manchester: Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson says defender Rio Ferdinand faces at least another month on the sidelines.
The England captain has spent more than two months recovering from the left knee injury sustained ahead of the World Cup.
Ferguson was quoted as saying in Sunday newspapers that Ferdinand "is nowhere near fitness. He's doing little bits of jogging and things like that. He's at least a month away."
Ferdinand will miss England's opening qualifiers for the 2012 European Championship against Bulgaria and Switzerland at the start of September as well as the start of United's Champions League campaign.
Ferguson says that "you have to take time with knee ligaments."
