In a sensational display of football, Jamshedpur FC clinched a hard-fought victory over NorthEast United in the Kalinga Super Cup, with the final score reading 2-1 in favor of Jamshedpur.
The game’s opening salvo was fired by NorthEast United at the 17-minute mark, courtesy of a goal by Nestor. This early lead, however, was not enough to intimidate the resilient Jamshedpur side.
This was head coach Khalid Jamil’s first game in charge of Jamshedpur FC and the experienced gaffer made early moves as he subbed in Provat Lakra and Germanpreet coming on for Jitendra and Dinpuia.
The first half of the game was relatively subdued overall, with Jeremy Manzorro and Nestor shining for Jamshedpur and NorthEast United, respectively.
The second half, however, saw a dynamic shift, especially after the introduction of Alen by Head Coach Khalid Jamil. His addition brought balance and energy to Jamshedpur’s gameplay and inspired the team to relentlessly press forward. Later, Steve Ambri was brought on in the 60th minute and he was straight into action as a stunning strike from him narrowly missed the goal, ricocheting off the post in a moment that left fans holding their breath.
The equalizer came in the 68th minute from Daniel Chima, who expertly capitalized on a cross from Ambri, bringing the score to a nail-biting 1-1. Chima continued his spirited performance, attempting an audacious acrobatic shot in the 72nd minute, which unfortunately did not materialize into a goal.
The decisive moment of the match arrived at the 88th minute when Steve Ambri, sent through by a brilliant pass from Jeremy Manzorro, skillfully defeated the keeper to put Jamshedpur in the lead, a lead they maintained till the final whistle.
Manzorro’s performance earned him the well-deserved Man of the Match award.
In his post-match remarks, Jamshedpur FC’s head coach, Khalid Jamil, lauded his team’s effort. “I just want to say congratulations to the boys; they worked very hard, and we have to keep the spirits high. We have a good mix of mature players, youth, and foreigners,” he stated, reflecting on the team’s spirited performance and strategic prowess.
