London: Manchester United are planning a sensational 10 million pounds swoop for Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri.

The Mirror has learned that United are exploring the possibility of luring Nasri – who's out of contract at the end of the 2011-2012 season - to Old Trafford in a deal that would enrage Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

United are understood to have outlined their interest in Nasri to a third party, although the France midfielder's agent, has not been involved in any preliminary negotiations.

Nasri's reluctance to enter into talks with Arsenal over a contract extension, until he is satisfied with their spending and recruitment plans for this summer, has alerted the champions to his potential availability.

Arsene Wenger has said it is "certain" that Arsenal will not sell Nasri to United but refusal to do business could lead to him being lost for nothing next summer.

There are suggestions that Nasri is following the lead of Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez in using United's interest to earn himself a substantial wage increase at the Emirates.

These Nasri talks came on the same day that reports in Spain suggested that Barcelona were upping their interest in Cesc Fabregas, leaving Wenger with the very real possibility of two of his best players agitating for moves in the same summer.
