Manchester: Manchester United will not appeal against Nemanja Vidic's two-match ban in the Champions League, according to reports. Vidic was sent off in the 2-0 win against Otelul Galati in Bucharest for a late challenge with his manager Sir Alex Ferguson saying that he could understand why it had been deemed a red card offence, even if he did not agree with it.
According to The Telegraph, with the Uefa disciplinary panel sitting on Thursday, United will accept the charge and will go into their final two group games against Benfica and FC Basel without their skipper.
The Red Devils top Group C alongside the Portuguese side and are three points clear of Basel, meaning a win next week would see them all but qualify for the knockout stages of the competition once again.
However, a loss to Benfica would mean a difficult trip to Switzerland for their final group game against Basel, who came from two goals down at Old Trafford to lead 3-2 only to have to settle for a draw late on, without Vidic.
Sir Alex is also without Chris Smalling due to a broken foot, and with form and fitness concerns over Rio Ferdinand, he will hope to avoid any more problems against Swansea City at the weekend.
