Mauricio Pochettino Set to Take on Head Coach Role With USA Soccer: Reports
USA Soccer, who were linked with several well-known managers - including Jurgen Klopp, Luis de la Fuente, Patrick Vieira, Pellegrino Matarazzo have finally landed on Pochettino, as per reports.

Mauricio Pochettino is back in action again, as latest reports state that the former Chelsea, PSG and Tottenham boss has taken on the head coach role of the USA men’s team, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup push.

The Argentine left Chelsea earlier this summer after just one year of managing the Premier League side, following a tumultuous season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Pochettino has agreed a deal to take over as head coach of the US men’s national team. The ex-Espanyol, Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss will pen a two-year deal with the USMNT, which wil see him in charge for their home World Cup in 2026.

USA football has been going through a rough period, having crashed out in the group stage of the Copa America earlier this year, becoming the first-ever Copa hosts to not make it to the knockout rounds.

And with USA set to host the upcoming FIFA World Cup in 2026, Pochettino is set to take on the responsibility to revitalise and revive the USA team, after previous coach Gregg Berhalter was sacked after a dismal showing at the Copa America.

USA Soccer, who were linked with several well-known managers – including Jurgen Klopp, Luis de la Fuente, Patrick Vieira, Pellegrino Matarazzo have finally landed on Pochettino, as per reports.

This would make the first foray into international managemet for Pochettino who has only managed at the club level so far in his career.

Starting off at Espanyol in Spain, he coached the team for three years before joining Southampton for one year. His reputation grew even more with Tottenham Hotspur, spending five years at the club and coaching them to a Champions League final. He later joined Paris Saint-Germain for one year and Chelsea, with whom he severed ties this summer.
