Spanish giants Real Madrid claimed a record-extending 15th UEFA Champions League Title with a 2-0 win over German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund at the Wembley Stadium in London, England on Sunday.

Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior found the net for the champions in the summit clash of the UCL as Borussia’s incredible work in the opening half of the game was undone by the Spanish side in the second.

Dortmund had a number of great chances in the first half of the fixture to take the lead, however, the German powerhouse could not capitalise on any of their opportunities and let Madrid off the hook.

The German unit’s early mistakes came back to haunt them when Carvajal headed the ball home to take the lead for the most successful side in the history of the competition.

Vinicius put the result beyond any doubt as he doubled their lead with less than ten minutes of play remaining. The Brazilian unleashed a left-footed shot to put the ball beyond the Dortmund keeper and wheeled away in celebration.

It was also an emotional moment for club legend Toni Kroos, who bid adieu to the adoring fans of the Los Blancos with yet another UCL medal to his name as he celebrated with the club faithful who had made the trip to London to witness their side create history.

However, the game was not the ideal way for Borussia’s brilliant servant of so many years, Marco Reus, who announced that he would leave his boyhood club at the end of the season.

But, credit where due as Dortmund were incredible throughout the season, however, getting the better of Real Madrid proved a step too far in their Champions League dream.

Nicolas Fulkrug hit the post in the first half, while Karim Adayemi and Julian Brandt missed a couple of chances to seize the lead early in the game and set the tempo going forward.

But, the fixture proved to be a game of two halves as Madrid outplayed Dortmund after the break to take home yet another title and everything that comes along with the trophy.
