Sunderland sign United defender Wes Brown
Brown has signed a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light for an undisclosed fee.

Manchester: The 31-year-old, who made 361 appearances for the Red Devils, was part of five title-winning sides at Old Trafford, as well as winning the Champions League, FA Cup and Carling Cup twice apiece.

With United colleague John O'Shea reportedly ready to follow suit before long, and a deal for midfielder Darron Gibson also rumoured to be on the cards, Black Cats manager Steve Bruce is making the most of his Old Trafford connections.

Central defender Brown, found his progress in Manchester frequently interrupted by injuries as he fell behind the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans in the pecking order.

He retired from international duty after England's 2010 friendly against Hungary having won 23 caps for his country.

Brown becomes Steve Bruce's seventh signing of the summer as he cashes in on the recent sales of Darren Bent and Jordan Henderson.
