William Gallas all set to join Spurs

London: William Gallas is close to joining Tottenham on a one-year contract, two months after leaving Spurs' fierce north London rival Arsenal.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says the former Arsenal captain will have a medical examination on Friday.

Redknapp denied that the veteran defender was asking for a large salary and says "the wages are more than reasonable."

Gallas won two Premier League titles with Chelsea before spending four years at Arsenal. He left the Gunners when his contract expired at the end of last season.

Gallas would provide cover for the injury-prone Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate in central defense. The France international would become only the sixth player to join Spurs after also playing for Arsenal.
