Formula One team Red Bull’s team principal Christian Horner is under investigation following complaints of inappropriate behavior according to a report.
Dutch daily De Telegraff reported the matter stating, “Horner is said to have been guilty of inappropriate behaviour, in particular towards one particular team member of Red Bull Racing.”
The report also stated that the owner of the racing team’s parent company, Oliver Mintzlaff, was also aware of the claims and the accusations are being looked into in all seriousness.
“The boss of the energy drinks company, Oliver Mintzlaff, knows about the accusations and takes the accusations very seriously,” the report further added.
The F1 side said that they have launched an independent investigation carried out by an external specialist lawyer.
Red Bull released a statement that read, “After being made aware of certain recent allegations, the company launched an independent investigation. This process, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialist barrister. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as practically possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
Horner has been at the helm of the F1 team since the year 2005 and has led the team to multiple successful campaigns including drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
The team has asserted its dominance in recent years, even winning an astounding 21 of the 22 races in the calendar last season.
Dutch driver Max Verstappen, who claimed his second World Title on the trot without much competition last year managed to triumph on a record 19 occasions last season, with Sergio Perez claiming the top spot in the podium at two races.
Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who triumphed at the Singapore Grand Prix, was the only non-Red Bull driver to claim a title last campaign, underlining RB’s dominance.
The duo finished 1st and 2nd in the drivers’ table, giving Red Bull their first-ever 1-2 finish at the end of the season.
