Amber Heard has expressed gratitude to her fans for their “overwhelming love and support” for Aquaman 2.

Amber Heard has finally broken her silence about her return to Aquaman 2 aka Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. In a series of throwback pictures on Instagram, she has expressed gratitude to her fans and well-wishers for their “overwhelming love and support.” The snapshots feature the actress having a lovely time with her daughter Oonagh, taken during the time she was filming for Aquaman 2. The Instagram post has become the talk of the town especially because Amber Heard previously complained about the repercussions she faced from the makers, following the much-public defamation trial with her former husband and actor Johnny Depp.

“After all this time, Aquaman 2 made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy). Thank you to all of my fans for the overwhelming support and love in Mera’s AQ return. Thank you so much,” penned Amber Heard. The first photo captures her taking a selfie, sporting red hair for her character of Mera in the Aquaman franchise. The following image shows the actress looking down smiling at her daughter as the little one fed on her milk bottle. In the final image, Heard exuded a goofy expression with her tongue out. She was dressed in an olive green, hooded puffer jacket and sported a pair of sunglasses.

During the 2022 defamation trial, Amber Heard claimed that Aquaman’s production company Warner Bros was hesitant to include her in the film’s sequel because of her tumultuous personal life, quoted by Variety. She added that a majority of her scenes and action sequences were removed from Aquaman 2. “I was given a script and then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character. They just removed a bunch out,” she said back then.

Aquaman’s director James Wan however refuted the allegations in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The filmmaker explained that Amber Heard’s reduced screen time was a part of the plan. It was because, unlike the first film which revolved around the love story between Mera and Arthur (Jason Momoa), Aquaman 2 was more of a bromance tale between Arthur and Orm (Patrick Wilson).

Released on December 22, 2023, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is running successfully in the theaters.
