Harrison Ford About the New Indy; Watch Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny: 'He’s Cynical, Hurt'
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is now streaming on OTT in India.

One of cinema’s greatest heroes is whipping his way into an all-new adventure as he returns for his final escapade in Luscasfilm’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Set in 1969, the movie presents a rip-roaring cinematic adventure with Academy Award® nominated actor– Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as globe-trotting archaeologist Indiana Jones for the last time. After more than a decade of teaching at New York’s Hunter College, Indiana is ready for retirement, but his plans change when his estranged goddaughter, Helena Shaw (played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge), takes him on a hunt for a rare artifact. Directed by writer-director James Mangold, the film is helmed by Executive Producers Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.

Talking about the new Indiana Jones that the viewers will encounter, Harrison Ford says, “The Indiana Jones we meet in 1969 is the result of the experience that we’ve had with him throughout the other films.” Explaining further about the nature of Indiana Jones to be discovered in the film, he said, “This is what happens when you’re a broken-down archaeologist/professor and you’re frustrated in your career and it’s your last day on the job before retirement and you maybe occasionally have a drink in the middle of the day. He’s dispirited, he’s cynical, he’s hurt, but the circumstances that are about to befall him lead to a great adventure in which there is a degree of redemption but renewal as well.”

Director James Mangold adding how Indy is different in the latest installment said, “I wanted to start Harrison’s character as far from being Indy as we could, so that the audience would feel the elation when circumstances force him to pull that hat on again. 1969 is a time where no one really believes in heroes like Indiana Jones anymore. In many ways, the adventure we’ve concocted is a reckoning between an old-school hero and an ambivalent and ever more cynical modern world.”

The movie is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, and written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth, David Koepp and James Mangold. Also joining in on the adventure are Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, has once again composed the score.
