During the 2023 Met Gala, North West, the 10-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, became the fashion police and shared her opinion about celebrity outfits, sparing no one, including her mother’s ex, Pete Davidson. Featured on a recent episode of The Kardashians on Hulu, North expressed her unfiltered views while live streaming the event alongside cousin, Penelope. She disapproved SNL star’s Fendi outfit and compared it with Gas Station. She even criticised her own mother Kim’s attire, claiming that the pearls appeared artificial. Despite her young age, North didn’t shy away from sharing her thoughts on the red carpet looks.
Pete, who previously dated Kim for about nine months and accompanied her to the Met Gala as a couple in 2022, made a solo appearance at the 2023 event. This time around, he wore a unique outfit, which included a hat, a long coat, a tucked in t-shirt and purple leather pants. However, North didn’t hesitate to express her thoughts while observing Pete’s red carpet walk. She said, “I hate it. You’re going to the Met Gala, Pete. Not the gas station.” Kim humorously remarked that her daughter enjoys critiquing outfits and has become an expert. She compared North’s candidness to the late Joan Rivers, acknowledging that “you can’t really take it seriously, getting roasted by a 10-year-old, you know? So I never do, but it stings a little.”
Further, North West didn’t spare her mother, Kim Kardashian. Commenting on fashion mogul’s dress, North claimed that it could have been “a little better,” leaving designer Daniel Roseberry taken aback by her opinion. The young girl then continued her judgment and pointed out that there were “too many gaps” between the pearls and even suggested they looked fake. Kim defended her attire and claimed the pearls were “very expensive real pearls” and suggested her daughter might need a “lesson on pearls.”
While North praised Kim’s 2019 outfit, she went on to complain about Kim’s iconic Met Gala 2021 Balenciaga black dress and claimed her mother looked like she was covered in a plastic bag and looked as if she was “suffocating.” She further admitted she also didn’t like her debut dress from 2013. After all the negative and hilarious comments, Kim requested her daughter to go easy on her when offering advice about her Met Gala appearances.
However, Kim Kardashian admitted, “North won’t lie and that’s amazing. I’m trying to teach her you don’t need to jump in and annihilate people for no reason. There’s a way to soften it up and not hurt people’s feelings.”
The Met Gala of 2023 paid homage to late designer Karl Lagerfeld. Celebrities attended the event wearing black and white ensembles, while some even paid tribute to Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette.
