Michael Douglas Lauds PM Narendra Modi's Contribution To Indian Cinema: 'It's Been A Successful Time'
Hollywood actor Michael Douglas praised PM Modi and Anurag Thakur for their contributions to films.

Hollywood actor and producer Michael Douglas recently attended the 54th International Film Festival of India in Goa. The actor was presented with the Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the event. He spoke on a panel with Hollywood actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur.

Speaking about the festival, the actor said, “I also think this is more and more the sort of spirit, and the beauty of this festival is you had 78 foreign countries represented and it’s only a reflection of the strength of your Indian filming, which is renowned and known around the world. I think you’re in very good hands.”

“As I mentioned I do think that under minister Anurag Thakur as well as Prime Minister Modi the last few years we’ve seen more money put into the production and financing of films, it’s been a very successful time,” the actor lauded PM Modi and Anurag Thakur’s contribution in the field of cinema.

The actor also spoke about the contribution of films in bringing together cultures and uniting people irrespective of race, religion and gender. He said, “I mean with all the different languages we speak movies share the same language, audiences from wherever you are in the world can understand what’s going on, movies bring us closer together and I think that’s a very important aspect of it.”

The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa kicked off last week with a star-studded opening ceremony, showcasing the grandeur of cinema. Aparshakti Khurana and Karishma Tanna hosted the ceremony at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, marking the beginning of the film gala in Goa from November 20 to 28.

Headlined by Shahid Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit, the event saw a mix of glamour and artistry, featuring stars like Shriya Saran, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Pankaj Tripathi, as well as musical maestros Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal and Sukhwinder Singh.
