It has been several years since Ms. Marvel was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the character has been a part of several important teams including the Avengers, and now as the founding member of the Champions. The ending of the 2023 film ‘The Marvels’ shows Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel as the founder of the MCU’s Young Avengers team. Having made her first appearance in the titular role in the Disney Plus Hotstar series, the young superhero made a big leap to the big screen with The Marvels.
At a time when fans have been wondering about the future of Ms. Marvel, discussing whether the character will still be a part of Kevin Feige’s upcoming plans for the franchise, actress Iman Vellani revealed her wish to become a part of the X-Men team now over other options.
In a conversation with ComicBook.com, the actress said, “On the big screen? X-Men. I don’t think that’s a bad answer. I think the X-Men is so cool, and it really just marks her as a legitimate mutant and all the naysayers can no longer say nay.”
Speaking more on where being an X-Men member is on the cards for her character in the future, Vellani added, “I never thought about that. Because I still have my own X-Men characters that I look back to, and I think those books are so timeless in a way… And I don’t know if people are actually looking to her as the literal new mutant and this is the new generation. But yeah, I don’t think that’s for me to say. I think the audience will take these two miniseries that I’ve done, and hopefully, they’re happy with the results.”
Iman Vellani on Ms. Marvel’s future in the MCU
In another conversation with Polygon, the actress shared a promising update on her character’s future in the MCU and said that she will be very much involved in the franchise.
“I have been assured. So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it,” the actress said.
She also shared that if she gets a second season for Ms Marvel, the actress would like to be the villain.
