How to Apply Tween Makeup
How to Apply Tween Makeup
This is a simple how-to on applying tween makeup. Keeping it light, natural and soft are the keys to good makeup.
Steps

Opting for a Basic and a Quick Style

Obtain the cosmetics. This includes mascara, a subtle eyeshadow that matches the color of your skin, lip gloss, BB cream, concealer and blush or bronzer. You can choose either lip gloss or lipstick, but please avoid using both. Keep in mind that lipstick lasts much longer and looks more sophisticated and subtle, while lip gloss is more moisturizing, but does not last as long. However, lip gloss is easier to slather on at school, whereas a compact mirror is often required for applying lipstick. Use eyeliner if your eyes are smaller because eyeliners make the eye look slightly bigger apart from enhancing its beauty. Remember that less is always more. When buying makeup for a tween, you could introduce products without color pigment, but that still feel like makeup.

Lightly apply taupe. This is the light sparkly brown, light pink, light purple, so basically pastels, lip gloss and, if you need it, foundation.

Apply some facial lotion, just to get your face non-oily and clean.

Apply a base for your eyes.

Take your light pink and apply on your lower lid. After that, add some taupe or brown on top of it.

Use mascara. Lightly apply some on just your upper lashes. While applying mascara be very careful because if you rush, it may end up where you don't want it and you could poke your eye.

Apply a nude pink, shimmery clear, or pastel pink/red to your lips. Lip liner is a nice touch, but you do not need it.

Preparing Your Face

Wash your face. This is an obvious thing to do, but many people cake on makeup without removing old makeup or clearing their face. Use an exfoliating cleanser for your specific skin type if you like.

Pluck hair. Clean up or shape eyebrows and clean your upper lips. For a less painful experience, get a tube of kids' baby teething pain reliever from Orajel. Apply it to the area that you want to pluck, and pluck away the tiny hairs.

Pull your hair back. You don't need to have stray locks stuck in your makeup. You can style it after applying makeup if you wish.

Applying Makeup

Apply primer that suits your skin tone. Read the article How to determine skin tone for more information. You could wear BB cream if you need more coverage. Use gel based or liquid foundation for dry skin. Use oil free foundation or powder based one for oily skin. Opt for gel based or experiment with the types for mixed skin type.

Apply a triangle of concealer under your eyes and on blemishes. Blend it into the area.

Apply eyeliner. Do not use too much because it may not look natural. A popular style is to add a wing to the eyeliner. If you want a more natural look, only line along the lash line.

Apply mascara. Be careful to apply only to the lashes. You can place a card behind your lashes to avoid getting it on your eyelid or crease. Move the wand slowly outward to avoid clumping.

Use a moisturizing lip balm. To have soft, natural-looking lips, use lip balm. If you want a rosy bit of color, use a tinted lip balm.

Add a little bit of lip gloss. This is optional, but lip gloss is simple and not too dramatic.

What's your reaction?
