A three-year-old boy accidentally fell into a newly drilled open borewell in Medak district of Telangana on Wednesday. Police said rescue operations are on to pull him out.
The incident took place at around 5pm in a field in Papannapet mandal of the district when the boy was walking with his grandfather and father, said a senior police official.
Rescue efforts were underway to get the child out and senior district and police officials were monitoring the operation, the official said.
SP Chanda Deepthi said two JCBs are working and special rescue teams are on their way from Hyderabad. "The depth of the borewell is 120 feet. We are sending oxygen into the borewell and will locate the child's movements by sending in a camera," she said, adding action will be taken against the borewell owner for leaving it open without taking any caution.
