Hrithik Roshan To Mohanlal, Stars Who Rejected SS Rajamouli Projects

SS Rajamouli is one of the most sought-after directors in the Telugu film industry. With his exceptional directing skills and attention to detail, he has cemented a strong position at a pan-India level. His last release RRR was among the third highest-grossing Indian movies. Still, few actors rejected his films which later became a hit at the box office. Let’s take a look.

Vivek Oberoi

Vivek Oberoi, who is known for portraying negative roles, was gracefully offered the role of Bhalladev. The actor, however, declined the offer due to prior work commitments. SS Rajamouli then cast Rana Daggubati who did complete justice to the role and the film turned out to be a national sensation.

Hrithik Roshan

In the initial stage of the film, SS Rajamouli was planning to cast Hrithik Roshan in Baahubali. The film was previously planned to be released in Bollywood. Rajamouli was adamant about not revealing the entire storyline before he committed to be a part of the project officially. It is believed to be the reason why Hrithik rejected the movie and went ahead with Mohenjo Daro.

John Abraham

John Abraham was the first choice of director SS Rajamouli to play the part of the villain in Baahubali. Rajamouli even sent him the script but, not receiving any reply from his side for several days, he decided to rope in Rana Daggubati in the villainous role. Rana Daggubati went through many workout sessions for the given role.

Sridevi

Late actress Sridevi was also offered the role in Baahubali. Rajamouli approached the actress to play the role of Rajmata Sivagami Devi in the film. But the actress demanded hefty pay along with expensive accommodation and facilities. The director failed to meet her requirements. Hence, she rejected the offer.

Mohanlal

Rumours surfaced that Mohanlal, a notable name in the Malayalam film industry, was considered for the role of Kattappa in the movie. But, due to his busy schedule and prior work commitments, the role went to Sathyaraja. He played the role gracefully and received widespread acclaim from the audience. His role is indeed among the most loved characters of the film.
