Keerthy Suresh, over the years, has established herself as a notable figure in the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries. Her latest movie, Siren, released on February 16, is generating a huge buzz. But do you know the actress was not the first choice of the makers of Mahanati?
As per reports, Keerthy Suresh was not initially chosen to play the titular role in Mahanati. Actress Amala Paul revealed in an interview that she was first approached for the role. However, due to personal reasons, she had to decline the offer.
“I was facing some personal issues then and that’s why I couldn’t accept Mahanati. But I indeed was the first one to be approached by the makers of the film Mahanati to play the role of Savitri,” Amala Paul said in an interview with a Telugu entertainment website.
The film received critical as well as commercial success at the box office. Keerthy Suresh also won a National Award as the best actress for her exceptional performance in the film.
The movie portrays the life of the legendary South Indian actress Savitri. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it features Keerthy Suresh in the lead role, with Dulquer Salmaan portraying Gemini Ganesan. Samantha Ruth Prabhu was also seen in a prominent role in the film. With music scored by Mickey J Meyer, the cinematography of the film is handed by Dani Sanchez-Lopez.
Previously, rumours were circulating that the film Mahanati was initially offered to Nithya Menen. Some reports even suggested that the actress herself confirmed this and explained why she couldn’t accept the project.
Workwise, Keerthy Suresh is best known for films including Bairavaa, Geethanjali, Saani and Kaayidham. She has a few films lined up including Baby John, Spirit, Prem Ki Shaadi, Rendu Jella Sita, Revolver Rita and Raghu Thatha to name a few.
Meanwhile, Amala Paul was last seen in the film Hebbuli Telugu. The actress is now all geared up to star in a slew of upcoming films including Raayan, Level Cross, Dvija and The Goat Life. Directed by Blessy, the film is set to hit the screens on March 28.
