Rajkot: Ravindra Jadeja celebrated his return to India's Test squad with a six-wicket haul in a Group C Ranji Trophy match between Hyderabad and Saurashtra on the opening day which saw two stunning batting collapses at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday.
Recalled into the Indian Test team after a gap of one year, Jadeja returned with figures of 21-1-75-6 to dismiss Hyderabad for 148 after they themselves were bundled out for 102, courtesy some brilliant bowling by Mehdi Hassan (5 for 43) and Vishal Sharma (4 for 30).
On a day when 20 wickets fell, Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Shah's decision to bat first backfired as his team was dismissed in 42 overs. Sagar Jogiyani (51) was the top scorer for the hosts and apart from him and Shah (17), none of the other batsmen could reach doubles figures.
In reply, Hyderabad was tormented by some brilliant spin bowling by Jadeja and Kamlesh Makvana (4 for 23), who returned with a four wicket haul as the visitors were dismissed in 42.2 overs.
At the draw of stumps, Saurashtra were 10 for no loss with openers Avi Barot (8) and Jogiyani (2) at the crease.
They trail Hyderabad by 36 runs with 10 wickets remaining.

Rasool, Manhas star for J&K on Day 1
In Agartala, Mithun Manhas made 96 and Parvez Rasool an unbeaten 129 as Jammu and Kashmir reached 303 for four against Tripura.
Rasool was batting alongside Bandeep Singh (7*) at stumps. Rasool and Manhas made life tough for the opposition bowlers throughout their 207-run stand.
The all-rounder ended up hitting 18 fours and three sixes while captain Manhas struck 13 fours in his 192-ball stay.
Manisankar Muraisingh and Rana Dutta shared the wickets to fall on the day.

Kerala crawl to 198/2 vs Services on Day 1
In New Delhi, Kerala crawled to 198 for two in 90 overs against Services.
For Kerala, former India A opener VA Jagadeesh scored 59 off 179 balls with six boundaries while Rohan Prem hit a patient unbeaten 79 off 217 balls with five boundaries and two sixes.
Jagadeesh and Prem added an even 100 for the second wicket while Prem and Sachin Baby added 53 runs for the unbroken third wicket stand. Baby is unbeaten on 32 off 75 balls with two boundaries.
For Services, right arm medium pacer Poonam Poonia took 1 for 28 in 17 overs while left-arm seamer Vikas Hathwala got 1 for 19 in 7 overs.

Kamat's 124 takes Goa to 265/7 against HP
In Dharamsala, Sagun Kamat scored an unbeaten 124 as Goa reached 265 for seven against Himachal Pradesh.
Put into bat, Goa found themselves in a spot of bother as they were reduced to 19 for four in 9 overs but Kamat took the onus and shared 156-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Snehal Kauthankar (74) to ressurect the innings.
Rishi Dhawan returned with a five-wicket haul to trigger the top-order collapse as he dismissed Swapnil Asnodkar (1), Dheeraj Jadhav (1), Darshan Misal (4) early on before returning to get rid of Kauthankar in the 67th over and R Keni (0) in the 69th over.
Kamat and Rituraj Singh (31) added 57 for the seventh wicket before the latter was sent back to the hut by Akshay Chauhan (2/48) in the 82nd over.
At stumps, Kamat and SB Jakati (15) were at the crease.
