BANGALORE: Many areas across the city had power cuts for almost 10 hours on Sunday. Areas like Jayanagar, Wilson Garden, Baswangudi, Banashankari, Austin Town, Adugodi, HSR Layout, Lakkasandra and Koramangala among many other areas did not have electricity supply between 10 am and 10 pm. BESCOM office claimed that there was a power shutdown at the Somapura Station due to a current clash, which resulted in no power supply all day. “KPTCL started working on the problem in the afternoon. Since Somapura Station provides power to many areas, we are trying to fix this problem,” said Shivrame Gowda, Senior Executive Engineer, South Bangalore. Residents complained that due to the power cut their daily chores were affected.“We have exams and presentations at college all through this week. We have been suffering since morning and no officials have responded to us. We haven’t been able to study for exams since morning. Since there was no current, there was no water supply as well,” said Naina Bhardwaj, a student “We at the 3rd block Jayanagar received no power supply all day. However Jayanagar 4th block which has a commercial shopping complex got power all day long. This is not justified,” said Alvis Keisham, a resident.Meanwhile, the local BBMP corporator and BESCOM engineers were unavailable to comment.
