11.11.11 - An auspicious day for babies?

KOCHI: The ‘bundle of joy’ inside the womb is hardly aware of the thoughts rushing through her or his mother’s mind. After an exciting date with 10.10.10, expectant women have great plans for 11.11.11. Many with nearer due dates want their babes to enter the world on this date, hopefully at 11 a.m. The date is easy to remember, no doubt, in an age when memory storing is turning tedious. That apart, a peep into the future is irresistible for the occult-crazy Keralites. Astrologist Attukal Radhakrishnan said people approached him to enquire whether the date was auspicious for a C-Section. “The wee hours of the morning is auspicious for birth. The day is lucky for  people with lucky numbers 2 and 9 and those ruled by the Moon. The day is not ideal for other special ceremonies,” he said.Astrologist Ganapathy Potti of Kollam supports his views. “I got calls, one even from Singapore, asking me whether it was auspicious for C-Section,” he said.But astrologers of Sree Sankaracharya Jyothishalayam in Kalady and Govinda Sulapani Variyar of Edappal think otherwise. “It’s an individual’s preference, some may not be in favour of the stars on that day,” was the reply from Sankaracharya Jyothishalayam.“The date does not have any relevance in ‘Jyothishastram’. May be its auspicious numerology wise, I haven’t got any enquiries whatsoever,” said Govinda Variyar. M K Damodaran who is into numerology said, “The date 11 represents 2(1+1=2), the month also represents 2(1+1=2). The year 2011 represents 4 (2+0+1+1=4). The fate number of the day is (11+2011=2033,2+0+3+3=8 ) is 8.”He said the date has another significance as the numbers 11. 11. 11 adds to 6. Number 6 represents planet Venus and Venus represents Friday, the sixth day of the week. When the day is born at 12 midnight it is ruled by the star ‘Bharani’ till around 7 am. Since Venus is the ruling planet of ‘Bharani’, it should be auspicious. But after 7 am it’s ‘Karthika’ and Sun is its ruling planet, he said. “Since many factors have to be taken into account to calculate the auspiciousness of a moment,its easier to sum up auspiciousness or luck as any point in the trajectory of a ball thrown up,” he said.
