Guwahati: A bomb exploded in a crowded neighbourhood in the Aahtgaon area of Assam's capital, Guwahati, wounding at least 18 people, many of whom are seriously injured.
According to the IG of Assam, IG Pathak, only two people were injured because of the blast. The other 16 were injured in the ensuing stampede.
The bomb was planted on a bicycle, allegedly by the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and exploded at around 1815 hrs IST.
The ULFA has been fighting for Assam's separation from India for many years now.
