PIRAVOM: Yet another sex scam was reported from Vettithara, near here, on Tuesday. The cousins of a 11-year-old girl have landed in police net in this connection. A police team, led by Puthenkuruz CI K V Purushan, is conducting the probe.
Jagadheesh, 24, Perikkumkuzhiyil house, is one of the arrested. The policerefused to disclose the identity of the second person as he is a minor. According to sources, the boy is an eighth standard student of an aided school at Piravom. Jagadeesh, a graphic designer, is the son of the girl's uncle and the second person is her aunt's son. The Kolenchery Magistrate Court remanded Jagadeesh in judicial custody for 14 days. The victim, a seventh standard student of Vettithara Government Upper Primary School, was staying with her aunt as her mother is a mental patient and her father is away from home.

The victim was being sexually harassed for a year."The incident came to light after the Education Department conducted a counselling session about abuse of minors in the school last year," the CI said.

"Last week, the student was found to be continuously absent in class. On questioning, the girl revealed everything to the teacher" the CI said.
