The pre-orders for the Apple iPhone 5 began on September 14 and it goes on sale from September 21.
New Delhi: Apple says the demand for its new iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply as the company has received over two million pre-orders for the device in the first 24 hours since bookings opened.
According to Apple, the iPhone 5 has shattered the pre-order record of one million in 24 hours held by iPhone 4S.
US mobile provider AT&T also said it set a sales record with Apple's iPhone 5 over the weekend, making it the fastest-selling iPhone the company has ever offered.
The iPhone 5 will go on sale from September 21 in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK.
The pre-orders for the iPhone 5 began on September 14.
