2 more fire accidents in suburban Chennai

CHENNAI: Two fire accidents were reported in suburban Chennai on Wednesday, including one in a stationary item godown at St Thomas Mount. Police suspected electric short circuit in both the accidents.Police said thick smoke began to emanate from a godown located at Mangaliamman Koil Street, St Thomas Mount, around 8.30 pm. The godown stacked up stationary items belonging to a private stationery manufacturing company.In another fire at Villivakkam Panchayat Union Elementary School at Maduravoyal, police said faulty free TVs and free dhotis that were brought last year were damaged. “All the three rooms  (in which the items were stored) were sealed and there was no way someone could enter,” said a police official.
