Three people died after a truck allegedly ran over five individuals sleeping on a footpath in the Shastri Park area of northeast Delhi early Monday morning.
According to the police, the victims were all homeless, and the incident occurred at Tarbuz market near Shastri Park metro station around 4:30 am.

A Delhi Police officer said the medium goods vehicle was approaching the Iron Bridge from Seelampur when it veered onto the central verge and ran over the five men sleeping on the footpath.
The victims were taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where three were declared dead and their identities are yet to be confirmed, the officer said. Meanwhile, the two injured—Mushtaq (35) and Kamlesh (36)—were taken to GTB Hospital.
The Delhi Police have been formed teams to apprehend the truck driver, who abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene.
Additionally, authorities are currently working to identify the victims.
