3 held for possession of country made guns

ERODE: Three persons were arrested by the Punjai Puliampatti police on Thursday for illegal possession of country-made guns.In the wake of the recent Mumbai bomb blasts, the district police intensified vigil in all public places in the district.When the police were on a security check at Danapudhur in P Puliampatti, they got a tip off about the three persons.  Subsequently, police rushed to the spot and arrested Arunkumar (23), Karuppasamy (26) of Annanagar in Puliampatti.  The duo admitted that they bought the guns from a persons, Velusamy (40) of Bavanisagar.  Based on their confession, Velusamy was arrested and a gun seized. The police suspect Velusamy got the weapons from a gypsy and sold it to others.
