SANDUR(BELLARY):  As part of its probe in to illegal mining, the CBI will conduct a 3D laser survey on the mining areas of Associated Mining Company (AMC) owned by mining baron and former tourism minister and G Janardhana Reddy, from Sunday.The CBI team under the supervision of CBI Superintendent of Police Subrahmanyeshwara Rao, along with four engineers from the Singareni Coal Mines, Andhra Pradesh, will conduct the 3D laser survey for 4-5 days, said CBI sources.The survey is being conducted following the export of over 13 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore from the AMC over 10.2 hectares from August 27, 2008, till the apex court’s directive to halt mining activities in AMC.During Janardhana Reddy’s ownership, the company is said to have exported over seven lakh metric tonnes of iron ore.Regarding the conducting of the 3D laser survey, a team of over twenty members comprising the official of Indian Bureau of Mines, Department of Mines and Geology, forest and engineers from the Singareni Coal mines, Andhra Pradesh has visited the AMC on Saturday to mark the mining areas to conduct 3D laser survey.The survey will ascertain whether the 13 lakh tonnes of ore had been extracted in the mining areas, the quantity of ore extracted, depth of earth excavated, ore grades in AMC among other factors.
