5 officials detained by pro-Posco activists

PARADIP: The pro-Posco agitators on Friday detained four IDCO officials and a liaisoning officer of Posco at Balishai under Nuagaon panchayat protesting forcible felling of trees.
Hundreds of aggrieved villagers under the banner of United Action Committee (UAC), who are on an agitation for more than a week over their six demands alleged that the officials were entering their area to demarcate the boundary of Nuagaon through the GPS system and complete the verification work of the forest area to chop down trees in the next three days. "Their vehicles were stopped by locals, mostly women, at Balishai under Nuagaon panchayat. All five occupants of the vehicle were detained," said a revenue officer. The IDCO officials, who were detained, have been identified as BK Bhuiyan, Kamalakant Das, Bishnu Pal, Alok Bag and liaisoning officer of Posco, Basant Jena.
